Competition Claim Against Google: For abusing its dominant position in the display advertising market

Any business that paid Google, directly or through an agency, for display advertising services displayed in the UK between 1 October 2015 and 6 May 2026, may be entitled to compensation as part of a new collective legal action.

Case overview:

Google Display Advertising Competition Claim

We are bringing an opt out case against Google and its parent company Alphabet LLC for abusing its dominant position in display advertising. We believe that thousands of companies across England and Wales were overcharged by Google, who had abused their dominant position in the market to reduce competition.

The case against Google

On 6 May 2025, KP Law, acting for AGC Collective Actions Limited, filed an application for a collective proceedings order with the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal.

The proposed claim accuses Google of abusing its dominant position in the display advertising market, resulting in inflated costs and reduced competition, to the detriment of UK advertisers with the value of the claim potentially being in excess of £3Bn.

The Competition Appeal Tribunal’s summary of the case can be found here.
